I first realized my lust for Martial arts at the age of 6 when I started learning Karate. I picked it up fairly quickly as most do at such a young age and my passion for it drove me towards achieving my grading’s. Although I was so passionate about it I never realized then what a massive part of my life it would become.
At the age of 14, I decided to give Karate a break and try my hand at various other Martial Arts. Over the years learning many new techniques, I started training with Carl Denne at Hastings Kickboxing Academy (in 2004)
The years of cross training and competitive spirit which I have from the sport of Kick Boxing have made me rekindle my passion for Karate and in November 2005 returned to the martial art to compete, recently gaining a second place after defeating a much higher grade (3rd Dan) than myself, and even more recently started competing and continue to compete in Kick Boxing, with the ambition and drive to compete at Full Contact Level.
Being part of HKA has really helped not only my confidence grow but my love and passion for all Martial Arts burn even stronger. The Kick Boxing classes we have at HKA are a fun place to be as we have such a good camaraderie amongst our team and this reflects well within the ever growing classes. We don’t just teach, encourage and help develop fighters at HKA, we ourselves learn and make new friends.
